The crystal is in the form of a small plate, and often becomes twin according to (100). Brownish red, yellow, and sometimes yellow green in color. Greasy luster. The cleavage (100) is complete. Mohs hardness is 5-5.5, brittle, and density is 4.9-5.5g/cm3. Often radioactive. It mainly occurs in granite, pegmatite and related post hydrothermal deposits.
