Iron and alloy of chromium, mainly used as alloy additive, with chromium content of 55% -67%, which is hard and brittle. It can be divided into high carbon ferrochromium (carbon content 6.0% -10.0%), medium carbon ferrochromium (carbon content 1.0% -4.0%), low carbon ferrochromium (carbon content 0.25% -0.50%) and micro carbon ferrochromium (carbon content 0.03% -0.15%), vacuum micro carbon ferrochromium (carbon content 0.01% -0.10%), and the last four are also called refining ferrochromium. The lower the carbon content, the higher the production cost. ferrochromium is smelting in electric furnace with ferrochromium ore, silica, coke, fluorite, etc. as raw materials. The refining methods include decarbonization and desilication. In the desilication method, the electro silicothermic method is mainly used to produce low-carbon ferrochromium, while the vacuum homomorphic decarbonization method can produce vacuum low-carbon ferrochromium with lower carbon content.
