steel with eutectoid composition. The equilibrium structure at room temperature is all pearlite, that is, the mechanical mixture of ferrite and carburizing. The ferrite and carburizing in a pearlite group are generally lamellar and alternately arranged in parallel layers, and their strength and hardness increase significantly with the decrease of lamellar spacing. The carbon content of non alloy eutectoid steel is about 0.77%, while that of alloy steel is mostly less than 0.77%.
