In a narrow sense, optical materials refer to materials that use linear optical effects to transmit light, also known as optical dielectric mau'rials. It changes the direction, intensity, and phase of light through refraction, reflection, and transmission, so that it can transmit according to predetermined requirements. optical materials can be divided into five categories: optical glass, optical crystal, optical plastics, optical coating and optical fiber. Each optical materials has a specific transmissivity and optical dispersion, so it is applied to different optical elements in various optical instruments and devices.
