A type of natural modified artificial fiber. Fibers made from alginate separated from certain seaweed, typically consisting of metal salts of alginate, such as sodium salts, calcium salts, beryllium salts, chromium salts, etc. Some have water solubility (sodium salts), some have alkali resistance (such as beryllium and chromium salts), and some do not have alkali resistance (such as calcium and magnesium salts).
