Explanation
The surface energy is the non volume work that must be done on the matter to increase the surface area of the system reversibly under the condition of constant temperature, pressure and composition. Another definition of surface energy is the extra energy of surface particles relative to internal particles. surface energy is a measure of the destruction of intermolecular chemical bonds when creating material surfaces.
