Explanation
Burgers vector is a method proposed by Bogs to use the slip vector of crystal to express the distortion of crystal caused by dislocation. When a dislocation slides in a crystal, the atom shears a certain distance in a certain direction relative to its neighboring atoms. The vector representing this atomic displacement is defined as the Burgers vector of the dislocation.
