The fiber is made of copolymer containing not less than 85% acrylonitrile. The product in China is called acrylic fiber. The main product form is staple fiber. Due to the similarity of certain properties and appearance of fibers to wool, they are known as "artificial wool". In the manufacturing process, acrylonitrile is used as the main body in the synthesis of polymer, and a small amount of second monomer (such as methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, vinyl acetate, etc.) and third monomer (such as itaconic acid, sodium allylsulfonate, sodium methacrylenesulfonate, sodium stylenesulfonate, etc.) are added for copolymerization to prepare a fibrous polymer with an acrylonitrile component content of not less than 85%, The polymer is dissolved in appropriate solvent (such as dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, vinyl carbonate, 51.7% sodium thiocyanate aqueous solution, etc.) to prepare spinning solution, and the finished fiber is obtained through wet spinning or dry spinning and post-processing. Polyacrylonitrile staple fiber is mainly used to make knitting lines, blended wool, knitwear, sportswear, felt, blended women's woolen cloth, etc. Polyacrylonitrile filamem can also be used as raw material for making flame retardant preoxidized filament and carbon fiber.
