The process of transformation one nuclide into another nuclide is also called nuclear transmutation. There are two types of nuclear transformation: natural and artificial. The former is the decay process of natural radioactive elements (such as uranium and thorium), and the latter includes all artificial nuclear reaction processes. With various accelerators and nuclear reactor, tens of thousands of nuclear reaction have been realized, so more than 80 kinds of nuclides and various basic particles have been obtained.
