Also known as monomethylhydrazine, monomethylhydrazine. Easily soluble in water, lower alcohols, and certain hydrocarbons. Strong hygroscopicity, medium flash point flammable liquid, a strong reducing agent, reacts with many oxidizing substances, and can spontaneously ignite when in contact with strong oxidizing agents. Iron, molybdenum, copper and other metals and their oxides have catalytic decomposition effect on them. The monomethylhudrazine aqueous solution is produced by chloramine method, and the pure product is obtained through separation, desalting, concentration, distillation and other steps. It is widely used as a liquid propellant fuel that can be stored. It can be used alone or mixed with hydrazine and unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine. A bicomponent liquid propellant often composed of oxidizing agents such as nitrogen tetroxide is used in spacecraft orbit and attitude control systems.
