Also known as water glass. It is a common name for sodium silicate, a colorless, turquoise, or starling colored homogeneous or viscous liquid. It is made by co melting silica (quartz sand) and soda ash (or earth soda) in a melting furnace, cooling and crushing. It is commonly used as cementitious materials for acid resistant, heat resistant mortar and concrete, and also as waterproof agent.
