Explanation
Also known as flake texture. In metamorphic rock, the lamellar dark minerals (biotite) and columnar minerals (amphibole, pyroxene) are arranged in parallel, intermittently, or separated by granular light minerals (quartze, feldspar), forming a black white alternating, lamellar and point combination layered structure. It is a typical structure of gneiss.
