The magnetic suspension is realized by using the diamagnetism of superconductors. When the superconductor is close to the permanent magnet, because the magnetic line of force cannot enter the superconductor, a large gradient of magnetic flux density is formed on the surface of the superconductor, which induces a high critical current and repels the permanent magnet. The repulsive force gradually increases with the decrease of relative distance, which can overcome the gravity of superconductors and suspend them at a certain height above the permanent magnet. A maglev train is a type of train that is propelled by magnetic levitation forces (i.e. magnetic attraction and repulsion).
