heat treatment in which steel parts are heated at a temperature slightly lower than recrystallization temperature to eliminate white stress. Through the recovery before recrystallization, the white stress of cold working or weld can be eliminated under the condition that the processing strengthening effect remains basically unchanged. For thick section parts or large weld parts, heating and cooling must be carried out slowly in order to avoid re generation of thermal stress and possible cracking during stress-relief annealing treatment.
