thermotropic liquid crystals refers to the substance that displays liquid crystal phase based on temperature change, which can be a single compound or a uniform mixture of multiple compounds. Each liquid crystal molecule has its own melting point (mp: melting point) and clearing point (cp: clearing point}). Below the training point, it is a crystal structure at the temperature. Above the clearing point temperature, it becomes a common liquid. At the intermediate temperature, it exists in the form of liquid crystal. In thermotropic liquid crystals, based on the different arrangement structures of liquid crystal molecules, it can be divided into three categories: smectic, nematic and cholesteric. At present, liquid crystal materials used for display are basically thermotropic liquid crystals.
