Explanation
Also known as A-W bioactive crystallite glass, this materials contains glass-ceramics apatite microcrystals with specific composition of two crystalline phases, namely, apatite and wollastonite, which endow it with bioactivity and enable it to form bone bonding with natural bone. Its interfacial bonding strength reaches 13MPa, showing good bioactivity. A-W bioactive glass has been used to repair bone defects and prosthesis such as artificial joint, artificial tooth root, vertebra, skull and jaw.
