It is also called silica sand. Sand containing more than 95% quartze. Quartze particles, which are formed after the bedrock is mechanically weathered and broken, are transported and piled up by water or wind. They are loose (unconsolidated) and have no plasticity and cohesiveness. quartze particles are uniform in size, well rounded, and highly sorted. Those with less impurities are white, and those with iron impurities are light yellow and light brown. In the industrial field, quartze fragments, which are manually broken and processed from quartz sandstone, quartzite, and gangue, are also called quartz sand. It is an important raw material for manufacturing glass, silicon refractory and ceramics.
