The electrode whose coating is mainly acid oxide is called acidic electrode. The main component of the drug coating is silicate or titanate. In structural steel electrode, acidic electrode includes titanium type, titanium calcium type, ilmenite type, iron oxide type and cellulose type electrode. Acid drug skin has good pressure coating properties and can be manufactured using a screw machine. Compared with the basic welding rod with the same strength level, the weld metal of the acidic electrode is slightly less plastic and ductile, and the diffusion hydrogen content is higher, but the weld process is better, the arc is stable, the spatter is less, the slag is easy to be removed, and the weld formation is good. AC power supply is recommended for weld, and DC power supply can also be used for weld (electrode is connected to the negative pole). The use of acidic electrode varies with the composition of coating. Among structural steel electrode, titanium electrode is suitable for all position weld of thin plates; Titanium calcium type electrode is used for weld of more important structures; ilmenite type electrode is suitable for all position weld of medium and thick plates, and weld efficiency is high; The iron oxide type electrode has poor operability for vertical welding and overhead welding, and is suitable for flat welding of medium and thick plates; cellulose type electrode can be used for vertical down weld. The reverse side is well formed. It is commonly used for weld of pipe joints.
