Characterize the elasticity of materials. There are 21 independent constants in the generalized elasticity tension ft, which relates the stress and strain relationship in anisotropic media. When measuring M in two orthogonal directions, it is reduced to 5 independent constants in a transversely isotropic medium with the same properties. There are only two independent elastic constants for isotropic media (the properties are the same when measured in any direction). Monosymmetric materials have 13 independent constants, and orthotropic materials have 9 independent constants. Hooke's law holds for small deformation. The strain is proportional to the stress, and the elasticity property of isotropic materials that obey Hooke's law is explained by elastic modulus.
