The process of reducing the phosphorus content in molten iron or steel during steel smelting. For most steel grades, phosphorus is a harmful element, which will reduce the mechanical properties of steel. Therefore, the phosphorus content in steel should be strictly controlled. dephosphorization reaction is one of the basic reactions in steelmaking and hot metal pretreatment. The widely used dephosphorization agent in operation is lime (main component is CaO). In addition to lime based dephosphorization agent, soda (Na2CO3) based dephosphorization agent with stronger alkalinity can also be used for hot metal pretreatment.
