The ability of materials to naturally absorb water and saturate at room temperature and 0.1MPa. Expressed in terms of mass or volume. That is, the percentage of the increased mass of the dehydrated materials after saturation and the mass or volume of the dehydrated materials. It is used to measure the volume percentage of open pores (connected with the surface of the test piece) of materials. It has a great impact on the mechanical strength, electrical properties, chemical stability and thermal stability of products.
