In polymerization, solvent or monomer itself is used as dispersion medium. initiator and generated polymer are insoluble in the dispersion medium. polymer and solvent are mixed together in slurry form, hence the name. This polymerization feature makes the system viscosity small, which is convenient for solution agitation and heat dissipation. Higher monomer concentration can be used to improve unit equipment productivity. At present, this method is used in the production of high density polyethylene, polypropylene, butyl rubber and ethylene propylene rubber. In the polymerization of propylene, propylene can be directly used as the medium. Propylene can be separated from polymer and recycled after reaching a certain conversion rate, so as to form solvent free, which is conducive to industrial production.
