A heat treatment process in which steel materials are heated to the austenite zone for a certain period of time, and then cooled in air or protective atmosphere to transformation into near equilibrium structures. Its purpose is to homogenize the structure, eliminate banded or reticulated carbide, refine the grain, refine the pearlite structure, and prepare for the final heat treatment. Suitable hardness suitable for machining can also be obtained for low-cardon steel. The as cast structure and mechanical properties of cast steel can be improved during normalizing.
