氮化硼晶体属六方晶系，结构与石墨相似，性能也有很多相似之处，所以又叫“白石墨”。它有良好的耐热性、热稳定性、导热性、高温介电强度，是理想的散热材料和高温绝缘材料。氮化硼的化学稳定性好，能抵抗大部分熔融金属的浸蚀。它也有很好的自润滑性。氮化硼制品的硬度低，可进行机械加工，精度为1/100mm。
